This collection contains one copy of the Lutheran Video Study final report which was produced in 1985 to determine the most effective ways for Lutheran congregations to utilize video technology in their ministries. The project, coordinated by the Lutheran Council in the USA's (LCUSA) Office of Communication and Interpretation, was sponsored by the Lutheran Church in America, The American Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, the LCUSA, and the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.

The American Lutheran Church (1961-1987) was formed by the merger of the American Lutheran Church (1930-1960), the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the United Evangelical Lutheran Church. Representatives from each of the constitutent churches formed the Joint Union Committee in 1950 to effect the merger. Presidents of the constituent bodies at the merger were Henry F.
